New Ways to New Referral-Centric Blog Article Ideas

New Ways to New Referral-Centric Blog Article Ideas By Vikram Rajan{3:30 minutes to read} In my last article, we introduced 2 new features available from In this post, I would like to introduce you to an additional value to the suite of services.

Most of our clients are familiar with phoneBlogger’s focus has always been on referral-centric blog ideas. What do I mean by that? Open your Master Checklist & look at the tabs at the bottom: You will see a tab called the Referral Circle. My partner Mark Bullock and I built a handy spreadsheet for you to list all of the specific people – usually your colleagues and peers – who have recommended clients to you in the past year, as well as those folks to whom you have recommended your own clients. It’s a kind of circular effect.

Of course, some of the same people may appear on both lists; even better. Focus just on the people who have recommended clients to you: It’s easier to get that 2nd or 3rd referral from someone than to earn that 1st referral.

In other words, it’s easier to get a referral again than it is to “break the ice” with a new professional acquaintance. With that in mind, it may be a small list of 6-12 people that you can work with to…

…get that 2nd referral;

…cross-market and cross-promote; and

…encourage article swaps, co-authoring and co-blogging.

Rather than worrying about the quantity of contacts, focus on the quality of the relationships within your Circle. You can even keep a few of these VIP relationships in mind, and then use to come up with article ideas that are tailored to them (and those like them).

To that point, we have 2 very handy tools that find the VIP influencers in your LinkedIn network: and

LeaderSearch quickly identifies group leaders who can invite you to speak on targeted topics and who tend to be influential in other ways.

MediaSearch finds contacts that you have in your 1st degree or potential 2nd degree of relationships who work in the media, be it from organization newsletters to trade journals to major media outlets.

As far as old adages go, “It’s not what you know, but who you know,” is a pretty good one.

What can do to expand your referral relationships in 2015?
