Authentic Marketing: New, Old, and New Again by Mark Bullock

{3:15 minutes to read} The start of a new year is a great time to get back to basics. In the marketing world, that means asking ourselves: What are our goals? How do we reach our targets? What are we intending here? What are our basic tenets these authentic aspects of marketing?

Authentic Marketing

For us, the foundation is always two-fold: Generating information that (a) the target audience wants to consume and (b) supports the idea that you are an expert in your field. The value and expertise you bring will make you the person that the consumer wants to hire when the need arises.

Practice Marketing Inc.’s flagship service is phoneBlogger.net. We’re also developing a video blogging platform which will allow our clients to create video content that is valuable to their audience. Video blogging is an additional approach to stay on your potential clients’ radar screen through social media platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook, etc.

This omnipresence across social media platforms is key — everything links back to your website where your content is permanently stored and available 24/7 to whoever is seeking information.

A monthly digest newsletter that features your various content and relevant updates puts your name right at the top of everyone’s email inbox, which at the very least is a reminder that you’re out there providing quality services. Sometimes people open newsletters that are a year old. Social media, by contrast, does not typically have that kind of longevity. Consistent emails preserve a long-term presence which is backed by an article archive on steroids (your blog).

Retro Is In!

For close to a decade, we have been examining our clients’ statistics. Consumers will go back and utilize tags and categories and or search your site/blog to find the information they seek. This action on your website also drastically helps your personal brand search engine optimization. Older content is often relevant. That’s another reason why it’s helpful to repost or repurpose prior information with updates at appropriate points in time. If there’s a fresh spin, then your audience will appreciate hearing about it.

The same philosophy can be applied to newsletters. If your new video content begins to explore a topic that you previously wrote about in great detail, connect the two pieces so people can experience your content via different mediums. Share what you feel is useful to your audience, regardless of when it was originally published.
