Authentic Marketing Starts with a Simple Question by Mark Bullock

{2:10 minutes to read} The utmost desire to sell your services (whether it’s in your clients’ best interest or not…) often results in a muddled marketing strategy; as this approach may be perceived as contrived and/or inauthentic. By contrast, authentic marketing represents your true nature and beliefs along with the eagerness to share useful and helpful information with your clients and/or prospective client base. 

Content that comes from the heart is easy to create and share (with passion and excitement). Written or video content that is crafted from this perspective is far more likely to increase your connection and engagement with your audience.  

Your audience will recognize your authenticity. It will be clear to viewers that you’ve chosen a calling as a career (not just a job that pays the bills). There’s a reason that you went into the line of work that you are in. Share your passion, knowledge, and insight. Share your ideas and suggestions that may help people. Remember, useful information is much more valuable than generic ads that lack substance.  

Where to Begin

It can be challenging to figure out where to start. You know your field well, and there is often a tremendous amount of information to convey. A good place to begin is to showcase your willingness to listen and understand your client’s problems, frustrations, etc. In doing so, you are demonstrating your ability to support and protect them. Their best interests are your best interests — because you share their goals. 

So ask yourself: What information can I convey that will truly help my clients or potential referrals? 

Once you have the answer, you’re well on your way.
